A journal page with Oddball Art

It is time for a new challenge over at Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog and this month our sponsor is  Oddball Art. The challenge winner will receive $10 coupon to spend at the store.
The design team was provided 3 images to work with and I got Christmas Holiday Alex. I was not really sure how to use her, being that she looked so sad in her Christmas outfit. But then an important point came to mind and so I set about working in my art journal.

I printed the digi out onto Canson Mi Tientes paper and colored her with my Prismacolor pencils. I then fussy cut her. I created a page for my art journal using Reflections heavyweight cardstock and masked off the edges. I inked the background with Distress Oxide inks. I really am amazed at how easily these inks blend. I sprayed the background with water, allowed it work “oxidize” and then dabbed it off with a paper towel.

I created the pile of coal by inking a piece of cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then drawing the coal onto it with a marker. I cut that out and then adhered both the coal pile and Alex onto my page. I cut the letters with two different alphabet dies from my stash and inked the letters with Memento Potter’s Clay ink.

I adhered the letters and the stars that I had punched out of washi tape onto the page. Lastly I added the page to my journal with the disc binding.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing your project and creativity at 613. I especially like your coloring of the folds and your shading on her skin! Nicely done Monica!
