A second color challenge

Today I am sharing my second project as a Guest Designer for the Outlawz Colour Challenge. This time the challenge provides a photo for inspiration and you can create with the inspiration you get from the picture. Our sponsor this month is Gerda Steiner Designs and I worked with the freebie called Coffee Mouse Digital Stamp.

Since I enjoy working with purple anyway, I decided to go for a card that had purple as the base color. I recently saw that my friend Carol at Crafty-Stamper had created a card with a beautiful sunburst background. I was inspired to try it too, though mine is totally different to hers (do take a look at hers also).  Using a mix of solid and patterned papers from my stash, I created the sunburst design and then added it to a purple cardbase.

I printed the mouse out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper, but opted to leave him largely uncolored as he popped off the busy background better that way. I added a pop of color on his mug and added some light pink shading in his ears and on his tail. I then fussy cut him out and ran a black marker along the edge to hide the white cut edge. I hand cut the sentiment too and adhered them both to the card.

I completed my card by adding some flowers from made from a previous Spellbinders Small Die of the Month set popped up on foam tape. The card needed some flowers on it as per the inspiration photo.
You have a fortnight to add your project to our Colour Challenge at Outlawz. Come and join the fun.
