Aviator Cat

Did you know that cats can be aviators too? Well now you do and here is my portrait of this sweet one drawn by Julia Spiri. This is a second DT project for World Wide Open Design Team challenge. You still have a week to enter. The theme is always Anything Goes and you can enter if you are a design team member of any team anywhere in the world.

I created my card layout in Silhouette Studio. I created a rectangle sized at 4×5.25 inches and filled it with one of Julia’s digital papers from her VIP club (sign up in Julia’s Facebook Group). I then added the accomplished kitty to my project where I wanted him and sized him accordingly. I used the cutline around the cat to create an offset, which I colored with a light color from the background paper using the eyedropper tool. I then moved the cat to a separate part of the sheet as I wanted to cut it out and add it as a layer to my card. I printed the background panel and the cat out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper.

I colored the cat with my Prismacolor colored pencils and metallic gel pens. The sparkle on the gel pen sections is not that visible on the photo, unfortunately. Once completed, I returned the page to the Silhouette and cut the panel and the cat out. I cut a second cat shape out of white cardstock as I needed to give the drawing paper some stability so I could pop the image up onto foam tape.
I added the panel to a cardbase and completed the card with a tag that I received in some happy mail from my friend Carole!
Remember to enter your project into our challenge over at the World Wide Open Design Team challenge and stand a chance to win some of Julia’s images.
