The Autumn Fairy

Time for another challenge at Crafts Galore Encore since it is the first of the new month. This month our sponsor is Fabrika Fantasy and I got to work with this lovely lady called Autumn Fairy. I had never worked with any of Fabrika Fantasy’s stamps before, so this was a first for me.

Because of all the detail in this image, I opted to go for a 5×7 card here. I imported her into Silhouette Studio and sized her accordingly to fit into my 5×7 rectangle in the software. I filled the rectangle with the toadstool paper from the Pumpkin Delight collection by We Are 3 Digital Shop and adjusted the hue of the paper to make it more yellow based and also reduced the opacity to make it lighter. I also included a digital sentiment from the Magical Sparkle collection. Once my design was completed, I printed it out on Daler-Rowney Drawing paper.

I colored the fairy with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Thanks to my mermaid lesson with Kit And Clowder, I was able to color her face better than I had colored faces before. She needed to be a redhead since she is an Autumn Fairy after all. I completed the leaves and flowers around her with glitter and metallic gel pens. Unfortunately the pretty sparkle cannot be captured on a picture.

Once she was colored, I trimmed the paper down. While I usually return even rectangular designs to the Silhouette, I had decided in the meantime that I wanted a small white border showing and so I trimmed it on my paper trimmer.
The Crafts Galore Encore challenge is always Anything Goes and you have a whole month to enter your project. We love to see what you make, so please share with us.

  1. Your coloring is magnificent, Monica! Love that you made her a redhead. Your background is superb and I know it took some effort but it's absolutely perfect for that image. Beautifully done.

  2. Hi, Monica! Your coloring with PC pencils is spectacular! I love those autumnal colors – something you and I don't get to really enjoy, except on paper! Beautiful card creation. I hope you are safe from Dorian, and that there is not too much in the way of flooding in your area. Bunny is in an "iffy" area, just 6 blocks from the beach. I hope she will not suffer too much in the way of flood damage. hugs, de

  3. It is a lovely card and your coloring is lovely. One day I'm going to take a pencil coloring class. I'm heading for Boot Camp with Jenn Dove in Oct to lean more about Copics. I think taking any class that will better our coloring is beneficial and boosts our confidence. [Bunny]

  4. WOW! Perfect coloring, I envy such great skills 🙂 I also admire your skills of combining images and backgrounds on your computer. Great project, Monica
