Magically Progressive

If you follow my blog, you will know that I love to participate in the Outlawz Progressive Challenge. There is a new sponsor every month and the digis are such fun to find in one’s email on the first of the month if you have participated in the month before. Well, this time I am Guest Designing for the challenge and here is my card made with the cute Polkadoodles Winnie.

I created the card in Silhouette Studio. After drawing a rectangle sized at 4.25×5.5 inches, I added two smaller rectangles and placed them at angles overlapping each other. I filled each one with a pattern from the Autumn Plaid Digital Paper collection by Perwinkel Pixel Shop. Using the eyedropper tool, I chose one of the oranges in the plaid and colored the main rectangle for the background. I added the sentiment in the corner from the Magical Sparkle collection by We Are 3 Digital Shop. The sentiment was originally in black, but I inverted it in GIMP and then removed the black background to create a white lettered PNG. I added a round cornered rectangle behind with sentiment in another color chosen from the plaid.

After sizing Winnie so that she fitted in the space allocated to her with enough space to also allow for a shadow, I moved her to another page so that I could print her out onto Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper. Once colored with my Prismacolor colored pencils, I returned her to the Silhouette to cut her out. I was very impressed with my machine again, it did a beautiful job of cutting her out. I cut an offset out of black cardstock so that she would have a shadow and thus stand out against the plaid.

Once both pieces were cut, I ran a black marker along Winnie’s edge and then glued her to her shadow and then adhered the whole element to the card with foamtape.

We would love you to join us at the Outlawz Progressive Challenge. I am sure you will have as much fun as I do playing along.

  1. Fabulous, Monica! I adore the plaid papers behind the image. I just got my image downloaded and won't get to play with her for another day or two. Good for you for being so prompt! 😀

  2. I love your card, I have this to do myself. Winnie just pops with that black silhouette around her and a perfect colour to go with the rest of the Halloween theme. Thank you for joining us at SheepSki Designs and good luck. Gail, DT xx

  3. Monica, your technical abilities are amazing! I have learned so much from you but I still don't think I would have been able to put together a fabulous card like this on my computer. I love the plaid background and your adorable image. xo
