A box of flowers

I am still here in sunny South Africa. Today is a dear friend's birthday and I made this box card for her before I left so that I could bring it with me. I happened upon the cut files over at Dreaming Tree and decided it was just perfect - a card and a bunch of flowers in one.

I cut all the parts out on my Silhouette machine and then inked them all with various colors of Memento ink. It just added a little more dimension to the look of the flower garden.

I then pieced all the pieces together. I opted not to add any further dimension as this card was going a long way in its envelope and so it needed to be as flat as possible. But it would look really nice with some of the flowers popped up on foam dots.

I completed the card by adding a Happy Birthday sentiment from a Spellbinders die set and adding some flatback pearls to the corners of the "crate". I also added some Wink of Stella to the sentiment and some of the flowers.

Thank you for still visiting my blog while I am away. I will catch up on yours as and when I have internet access or when I get home.

Stickers

I am back again with a second DT post for today. This time for the Outlawz Crash your Stash challenge. This challenge is so much fun as it asks for specific item out of your stash and this month the cue is Stickers. The theme is always Anything Goes using the cue. Our sponsor this month is Drawn by Krista and I got to work with this cute digi called Vintage Horse.

Well I decided this cool looking horse could not just be brown - oh no! So she got a rainbow mane and tail and pink hooves and blaze. I printed her out onto Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper through my Silhouette Studio software so that I could create a cutline for her and then cut her out once I had colored her. The little rosette was also part of the digi set and so I included it here. I colored both horse and rosette with my Prismacolor colored pencils, using a white Milky Pop pen for the dots. I recently saw a recommendation for the Milky Pop pen and so I decided to try it. I must say that I am really impressed as it is the first while gel pen that I have used with my pencils that stayed truly white and did not take up any of the color from the pencil underneath.

Once I had completed my coloring, I returned the page to the Silhouette and cut the horse and the rosette out. I cut the same shape from black cardstock and after running a black marker around the edges of the digis, I glued them to the black cardstock cutouts.

I then made a 5.5x5.5 inch cardbase and using papers and stickers from a paper pad that I have had in my stash forever, I created the scene to make a Valentine's Day card. The horse is popped up on foam tape.

We would love to see your creations using the stickers that I am sure you have in your stash and have not used in forever. Join us over at the Outlawz Crash your Stash challenge. You have a month to enter.

Missing You

Well thanks to the ability to schedule a post, I can share this card with you despite that fact that I am on the other end of the world. I am visiting in South Africa for a few weeks. But here is my DT card for the second sponsor of the monthly Rabisco Challenge blog. Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and I got to work with this cutie called Kidz Daisy.

I designed my card in Silhouette Studio, creating a rectangle sized at 4x5.25 inches and filled it with a digital paper from the Flower Power Pack by Geckgo Galz. I then positioned the digi on my cardpanel, sizing it accordingly. I added a small oval under her feet to ground her and then printed the design onto Canson C' a Grain Drawing paper. I colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils and then returned the page to the Silhouette to cut her out.

I added the ribbon to the cardpanel and then added the cardpanel to a yellow cardbase. I cut the sentiment out of black cardstock using alphabet dies from my stash. I cut the Y O U out of yellow craft foam too and added that under those letters to accentuate the word YOU.

Our challenge at Rabisco Challenge blog is always Anything Goes with some haberdashery item on your project. You have the rest of February to enter and so we would be really pleased to have you.

No coloring Birthday card

It is Friday! Today I want to show you a card I made that has no coloring on it. I made it using die cuts.

The card is 5x7 in size and so I created a cardbase. I then added a cardpanel onto it cut out of textured cardstock and added a strip of coordinating patterned paper to the left hand side. I then cut the frame out of brown cardstock and positioned it toward the lower end of the card. I cut the envelope out of patterned paper and the music notes out of cream cardstock and assembled them inside the frame.

The card was completed with a die cut sentiment cut out of black cardstock and then coated with Wink of Stella.

Have a great weekend. Thank you for visiting.
