Small Format

Today I have a little project to show you. Little as in size as this is an Artist Trading Card (ATC). I joined in the Vera Lane Studio Facebook ATC swap this month. The theme is “Hello Spring” and what more springy is there than Tulips in Amsterdam? I used two sets namely, Amsterdam and Matryoshka dolls.

Using MS Word, I created a rectangle sized at 3×2 inches and then added 3 digis from the Amsterdam digi set, sizing them accordingly. I then also added one of the Matryoshka dolls and sized her. I then moved them out of the rectangle and printed the digis out on Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper. I colored the 4 digis with my Prismacolor colored pencils and then fussy cut them. I ran a black marker along the edges once they were cut out.

I then cut the ATC out of the same Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper and created a background with soft pastels. Once I had done that, I arranged my scene on the card. I added the sparkly tulips that I had cut using a Spellbinders die. And completed the ATC with a computer printed banner sentiment.

This was definitely fun to make. It is quite different working in such small format. I will have to try my hand at it again.

  1. I love your spring ATC Monica. It's a brilliant idea to go with the tulips in Amsterdam theme! You managed to get such a lot onto the tiny canvas! I am thrilled to see you join in the fun at Vera Lane Studio! Unfortunately we had to change the swap to a challenge since some countries were not accepting international mail. So the good news is: you are in the draw for a VLS digi set prize – good luck and hope you'll join us next month! xx

  2. This is adorable and such a happy cheerful card, very pretty, makes me smile. During these hard times, folks need happy cards, Love it, hugs, Lori m

  3. A fun combination of topics 🙂 But the result is great. I love your Dutch buildings and beautiful Matryoshka. Small form creates additional difficulties, but you did it sensational.
