Color with Pencils

Happy Friday and here I am with another challenge project between BożenA and I. This time she chose the theme and to my surprise, her choice was “Color with Pencils” Well that is something I love to do and so I decided it was the perfect time to use this cute digi by Lemon Shortbread.
Using Silhouette Studio, I sized the digi for this 4.5 x 6.25 inch cardbase and printed it out onto Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper. I colored the little fairy in her sweet acorn house with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I decided that a crack had formed in her pink paint during her winter hibernation, showing the wood of the acorn in one spot. Both fairy and her house are colored completely with my pencils. I used the three metallic colors for her wings.

Once she was colored, I returned her to the Silhouette and cut her out. I ran a black marker along the edge of the cut shape and then cut the shape again from black cardstock, which I then glued behind the colored version. I added some twine from my stash through the hole in the top of the acorn. Using Memento ink, I inked up the raised side of a woodgrain embossing folder and ran some light brown cardstock through the embossing sandwich. This provided the two-colored tree stem against which her house is hanging. I glued the panel to the cardbase.

Using a Spellbinders die, I cut the sentiment for the bottom of the card, once out of pink cardstock and once out of pink craft foam. I glued the two parts together and then adhered them to the bottom of the card.

Using a leafy die from my stash, I cut a number of leaves from green cardstock and two from green craft foam. I adhered two of the cardstock leaves to the craft foam leaves and then arranged them across the top of the card, inserting the other side of the twine under them.

What a fun project this was and I am so excited to see BożenA’s project for this challenge. Please pop over and have a look and leave her a comment also.

  1. Hello Monica,
I just came home from a long journey and immediately sat down to the computer to see your card project for our challenge. Your image is sweet and wonderful. Wrapped in a haze of mystery. Each of us dreamed in childhood of meeting fairies and I would never have thought that they live in acorns 🙂 I love your card, it is sweet, funny and mysterious. Your coloring as always beautiful and I love fairy wings, I'm sure they are wonderfully shimmering in real life. Thank you Monica for our fun together and I look forward to determining the next theme 🙂
    hugs,
    BożenA
