The Butterfly Challenge

I recently ran across the Butterfly Challenge blog and the challenge hosted there was a lot of fun. The challenge requires the use of a butterfly somewhere in the project and then this fortnight the letter is Y and one can use a theme or a color or both or incorporate all seven elements into the project. Here is the current wheel:

I opted to incorporate all seven elements into my encouragement card. I started out with a blue cardcase and embossed the front with a Darice flower embossing folder. This took care of the "Your Choice" as I love how dry embossing just adds another dimension to the project. I added some flatback jewels into the centers of some of the flowers.

I stamped the sentiment that contains the word "your" as a twist on the element "you" as the second theme element and cut it out with an oval die. I cut another oval out one size larger than the one that the sentiment is on and glued the two together. I then added a strand of yarn around the sentiment. The yarn meets the requirement of "yarn" as the third theme element and "yale blue" as the one color element. I cut another oval out of white fun foam and popped the sentiment up.

I then added the butterflies cut out of "yew" and "yellow" colored cardstock to meet the final two color elements of the wheel.

This card was a fun difference for me in that there is no pencil colored image on it. But I enjoyed making it a lot.

General supplies:
Paper Studio cardbase and coordinating envelope
White, yew and yellow cardstock
White fun foam
Sentiment stamp from my stash
Oval dies from my stash
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Yale Blue yarn
Flatback jewels
