For Dad

It is Monday today and time for another challenge over at Cute N Crafty. This fortnight our sponsor is Polkadoodles and I got to work with this image called Relaxing Dave. The theme of the challenge is Father’s Day or make a card for a man.

I printed the image out onto Daler-Rowney drawing paper and colored him with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I had already chosen the papers that I wanted to layer on my card and so I matched the chair and the footstool to the orange and the lime green. Once he was colored, I cut him out with a stitched hexagon die from my stash.

The papers that I layered on the dark blue cardbase are pieces out of my scrap box. I cut them to size with my paper trimmer and then used a border die from my stash to add some interest to two of the layers. I completed the card with the word Dad that I cut from a set of Quickutz alphabet dies. I cut the letters in both white and black cardstock and stacked them. Though not really a shadow, the white layer is slightly visible under the black.
Remember to head over to Cute N Crafty and enter your manly cards there for a chance to win some Polkadoodles images.

  1. Great card…just what Dad's should be doing on Father's Day. My husband had me buy him a Hawaiian shirt for Father's Day. He's retiring in January and says he's going to wear Hawaiian shirts everyday. I can't even imagine that. He's bought fourteen so far. We'll see if he ever wears one!

  2. Perfect card, especially for a retired Dad! Love the colors and that cute image! Thanks for sharing with us at 613 Avenue Create!

  3. A super Father's Day card, Monica. Love how you co-ordinated your papers and colouring – it makes for a really interesting design. I wonder how many dads will spend the day with their feet up? 🙂 xx
