Magical

Where did June go? Here we are on July 1 and time for a new challenge over at Crafts Galore Encore. This month our sponsor is Polkadoodles and the winner will receive a voucher to the value of 3 digis. I got to work with this sweet image called Surprise Gifts.

Those who read my blog regularly will know by now that I am experimenting with the combination of digital elements and hand coloring. The cardpanel on this card is all one layer – the layers having been created digitally. I am again creating in Silhouette Studio. I created a rectangle sized at 4×5.25 inches and filled it with a digital paper from the Color Burst collection by We are 3. I then added the image onto the panel and sized it as per my liking. I then added a 0.25 inch offset to the image and colored that box with a color from the digital paper that I chose with the eyedropper tool. Finally I added a digital sentiment from the Magical Sparkle sentiment collection by We are 3. I printed the panel out onto Daler-Rowney Drawing paper and colored sweet Winnie with my Prismacolor colored pencils.

Once she was completed, I returned my page to the Silhouette and cut the large rectangle out, being sure to turn the cutlines off for everything else – didn’t want any of the layers cut out on this one.

I completed the card by adding the panel to a dark teal cardbase.
Be sure to head over to Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog and entered your project there. The theme is Anything Goes and you have a month to enter.

  1. I am loving how you create your cards with your Silhouette. The Colour Burst background papers are fabulous and look like inky hand made ones. You have coloured Winnie beautifully, Monica – a sweet card with a lovely sentiment! x

  2. Hi, Monica! She is Sweetness Personified! Loving your color choices, and that beautiful trade-mark-Monica shading. Beautifully done. Like you, I am enjoying digital papers more and more. Have you found a way of storing them so that you can find which papers you need at a glance? I wish I could pin them, but they don't always come with a watermark for pinning purposes. wishing you a great day, and hoping it's not too too toooooo hot for you! xx
