Mother’s Day

Hello, here I am writing to you from the southern tip of Africa! I apologize for the delay in getting to visit your blogs, but the last week has been rather crazy with a long journey and some official stuff I had to get taken care of. But here I am with another project for a challenge between BożenA and I. It was her turn to name a topic and she decided to go with something that I could easily do while on the go – make a card for Mom.

My card is one using my favorite technique of combining digital elements with hand colored images. Flowers always work for a Mother’s Day card and so I decided to use the Paper Shelter’s In Bloom digi with the digital paper that comes in the set. I created the layout in Silhouette Studio by layering the digi onto the background paper and adding the sentiment. I then printed the image out onto Canson C’ a Grain Drawing paper. I cut the image out and adhered it to a 4.25×4.25 square cardbase and put it in my bag. Obviously my pencils were travelling with me and so the plan was to color the flowers either along the way or when I arrived. Travelling was easy due to very limited traffic and I slept most of the way, so coloring happened after arrival.

I colored the flowers with my Prismacolor colored pencils and was able to hand deliver the card to my Mom.
I am excited to see what BożenA has created for her Mom and I invite you to visit her blog to see it and also leave her comment while you are there.

  1. I was wondering what technique you would use to create your card and you chose the one in which you are a true master. I love how you combine computer graphics with hand-colored elements. Your background is gorgeous, like an elegant English wallpaper, and these flowers look phenomenal against it. Once again you proved that the pencils are a perfect pair too 🙂
Thank you very much for this challenge, I love playing with you!
I am convinced that your mother is delighted with this card 🙂 I cordially greet your parents, Monica
