Colorful Neighborhood

Today I am finally here to show you my project for the next challenge between BożenA and myself. She had to have lots of patience with me this time as I travelled out of the country and prepared for my craft show all in the time since she mentioned the topic.

The topic suggested was that we use three different techniques on our project of which one of them was loose watercoloring. Watercoloring is always a challenge for me as I don’t practice it often enough and so it mostly looks that way. But I decided that I could definitely make a background with my watercolors and that could be loose. My other two techniques are colored die cuts and heat embossing.

I made cards that one could give to a new neighbor and using the little house dies, I cut each style three times out of white cardstock. I then colored them with my alcohol markers and assembled the layered houses. I love bright colors and so we have a street of bright houses – a bit Nordic in nature. The three cards all have the houses in the same shape order, but different color order.

I completed the cards by stamping the Hi! sentiment in Versamark ink and then adding white fine detail embossing powder.

I am excited to see what BożenA has created. Her watercoloring is always beautiful and I am sure that this time will not be different. Please visit her and leave her a comment.

  1. I knew your interpretation of the theme would be a big surprise! I love these cards, they look like postcards from the sea, where the blue of the sky meets the blue of the water. I love colorful houses, they are so cheerful and you are right, they look like a scandinavian city. I am very happy that we managed to finish this challenge. The wait time to see your cards was worth it. And I'm sure the neighbors are delighted with such a welcome.
Thank you Monika for another great time and for constantly expanding my horizons. Your view of topics is always so inspiring!
    hugs,
    BożenA xx
